Focus and Attention Protocol.

A conservative, evidence-based stack aimed at supporting sustained attention, working memory, and calm focus during demanding cognitive work. It pairs adaptogenic and amino-acid calm-focus support with choline-donor and omega-3 building blocks for cognitive function.

In short

The focus and attention protocol in brief.

A quick summary. The full stack, with dose and timing for each supplement, is below.

The Focus and Attention Protocol is a beginner stack of 5 supplements aimed at cognition: L-Theanine, Caffeine, Bacopa Monnieri, Citicoline, and Fish Oil. 3 are core and the rest are optional add-ons, at roughly $35-65/mo. Each supplement below lists its dose, timing, role, and the evidence behind it.

L-Theanine

Promotes a calm, alert state by increasing alpha brain-wave activity and blunting the jittery edge of stimulants, supporting steadier attention without sedation.

Caffeine

A well-characterized adenosine antagonist that improves alertness, reaction time, and vigilance; combined with L-Theanine it delivers focus with fewer of the anxiety and crash effects seen with caffeine alone.

Bacopa Monnieri

A traditional nootropic with randomized-trial support for improved memory acquisition and information processing speed when taken consistently over several weeks.

Citicoline

A choline donor and precursor to phosphatidylcholine and acetylcholine that has shown improvements in attention and psychomotor speed in healthy adults in controlled trials.

Fish Oil

Provides the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA that are structural components of neuronal membranes and support overall cognitive function, with the strongest signal in those with low baseline intake.

Why it works together

How the pieces combine.

The mechanistic rationale for stacking these together rather than taking them in isolation.

  • L-Theanine and Caffeine are the best-studied pairing in the stack: theanine smooths the arousal curve of caffeine so attention gains arrive without the jitter or rebound crash.
  • Citicoline supplies choline for acetylcholine synthesis while Fish Oil supports the neuronal membranes that house cholinergic signaling, so the two complement each other on the structural and neurotransmitter sides of focus.
  • Bacopa Monnieri works on a slower timescale (weeks of consolidation), providing a durable memory and processing-speed base beneath the same-day alertness from the theanine-caffeine pairing.
