What is happening. American ginseng can acutely sharpen working memory and reaction time, while L-theanine promotes calm focus by increasing alpha brain wave activity; together they may support attention without the overstimulation of stimulants.
Mechanism. American ginseng modulates cholinergic signaling and cerebral glucose metabolism to enhance task performance, while L-theanine raises alpha oscillations and modulates glutamatergic and GABAergic tone to reduce arousal, giving complementary cognitive effects.
Recommendation. Reasonable to combine for cognitive support. Start with standard doses of each and assess tolerability; no specific timing separation is required.
