What is happening. Low magnesium increases vulnerability to torsades when QT-prolonging drugs are used.
Mechanism. Magnesium supports cardiac repolarization and reduces triggered arrhythmia susceptibility.
Recommendation. Correct documented hypomagnesemia medically, especially with vomiting, diarrhea, diuretics, or cardiac disease.
