What is happening. Nettle leaf can have diuretic and mineral effects; root products are different, but mislabeled mixed products may affect fluid or electrolyte management.
Mechanism. Potential urinary and electrolyte effects from mixed nettle products plus potassium supplementation.
Recommendation. Avoid mixed nettle leaf/root products with potassium supplements in kidney disease, ACE inhibitor use, ARB use, or potassium-sparing diuretic use without clinician review.
