What is happening. St. John's Wort may alter metabolism of many drugs and hormone therapies, making estrogenic supplement effects harder to predict.
Mechanism. CYP and P-glycoprotein induction by St. John's Wort plus estrogenic activity from Pueraria mirifica.
Recommendation. Avoid combining when using hormonal contraception, hormone therapy, anti-estrogen drugs, or prescription medications without clinician review.
