What is happening. St. John's Wort is explicitly contraindicated with selegiline transdermal labeling and is unsafe with MAOI therapy because of serotonergic effects.
Mechanism. Serotonergic herb effects combine with MAO inhibition to increase serotonin syndrome risk.
Recommendation. Do not use St. John's Wort with selegiline.
