What is happening. St. John's Wort has serotonergic activity and can interact unpredictably with antidepressants.

Mechanism. Serotonergic effects can be additive, increasing risk of serotonin syndrome; enzyme induction may also alter exposure to other medications.

Recommendation. Do not combine St. John's Wort with vortioxetine; involve the prescriber before starting or stopping either agent.
