What is happening. Alpha-lipoic acid and bilberry anthocyanins are complementary antioxidants sometimes combined for microvascular and retinal support, particularly in the context of diabetic microcirculatory concerns.

Mechanism. Alpha-lipoic acid regenerates other antioxidants and reduces oxidative stress in neural and vascular tissue, while anthocyanins independently scavenge free radicals and support capillary integrity, giving complementary antioxidant coverage.

Recommendation. Safe to combine at standard doses with food. If using either for blood sugar or diabetic complications, monitor glucose, as both have been studied in that setting.
